Presentation: Labour Digitalisation and Older Workers in the Gig Economy: Toward a New Labour Policy through Collective Bargaining and Social Dialogue in Serbia
Abstract: The rise of the gig economy and labour digitalisation has had a major impact on how work is organised, what jobs are available, and how workers are placed. In this context, older workers face particular challenges, such as limited access to digital resources, bias, and inadequate institutional protections. Although platforms offer certain opportunities for inclusion in the labour market, work often remains precarious, individualised, and without basic labour rights. Consequently, this paper aims to address the following question: What effect does the digitalisation of labour have on the responsibilities of older workers in the gig economy, and what options are there for their engagement in social dialogue and collective bargaining?
Dr Dolantina Hyka
