Working Group 5:
Feature One
→ aims to shed light on the barriers that media set to employment opportunities and experiences for older individuals
Feature Two
→ will explore the influence of various forms of media (print media, audiovisual media, digital media) on societal attitudes and perceptions towards older workers and their employability and identify any biases or stereotypes present in media representation of late-life workers. Moreover, it will explore the potential of media to capture and showcase the cumulative knowledge of older workers
Feature Three
→ findings can inform the development of policies and initiatives to promote positive and accurate media representation of older workers and to highlight their contributions to society
Maeve O’Sullivan

Maeve is an assistant professor of Human Resource Management and Decent Work at the University of Galway. Research to date has been primarily centred on identifying the factors influencing labour market inequalities – specifically relating to age and gender – and finding multi-level, impactful solutions to inform policy and improve individual work and organisational performance. Maeve is an invited grant assessor with the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council, a Research and Policy Committee member for Ireland’s TASC (Think-Tank for Action on Social Change) and an associate member of the CIPD.
Eleni Meletiadou

Dr Eleni Meletiadou is an Associate Professor in Management Learning and Education (specialised in EDI), currently the Director of RILEAS and GEDI Research Groups, at London Metropolitan University, in the UK. For over 20 years, she has conducted research in diversity, gender, Education for Social Justice, age, digital literacy, multilingualism, and multiculturalism. She has published on a wide range of topics in the field of mature students’ digital literacy, workplace inequality, ageing, well-being, social exclusion, and migration.
